Shipping from Canada to the US

Ship to US customers. Paperwork included.

Logentic fills in customs details from your products, prints the commercial invoice when the order is packed, and compares US rates from UPS, FedEx, DHL Express and Stallion's US services. Cross-border orders go through the same pick, pack and ship flow as domestic ones.

What changed in August 2025

Since August 29, 2025, the US no longer lets commercial parcels from any country in duty-free under its $800 de minimis rule. Every parcel needs accurate customs data and a customs entry. Whether duties are owed depends on the product, where it was made and the tariffs in force, which have changed several times since. Confirm the duties for your products with your carrier or customs broker.

How it works

Cross-border orders, handled like any other order.

Customs details live on your products

Each product carries its HS code, country of origin and customs description. If they're already in Shopify, they come across when you connect.
  • Shipments to the US can't go out with a missing or placeholder HS code
  • Declare value at unit cost, selling price or a custom amount per order
  • Fix a product once and every future order uses it

The paperwork prints with the label

When an order is packed, Logentic produces the commercial invoice and a certificate of origin as PDFs. With UPS paperless trade, the documents go to customs electronically, so nothing gets taped to the box.
  • Commercial invoice for every cross-border shipment
  • Paperless trade with UPS, on Logentic's account or yours
  • A certificate of origin with each cross-border shipment

Rates for US services show freight, brokerage and duties separately where the carrier provides them. Choose whether you prepay duties (DDP) or your customer pays on delivery (DAP), order by order or with a rule.
  • DDP or DAP with UPS and FedEx, and on Logentic's shipping account
  • Duties prepaid shown on Stallion's US services
  • A rule can set the service and who pays duties for every US order

Shipping to the US: questions

Yes. US customs needs an HS code and country of origin for every commercial shipment. Logentic stores them on each product, takes them from Shopify if you've set them there, and won't let a US shipment go out without them.

Yes, if you prepay them. Choose DDP (delivered duty paid) with a service that supports it, and the duties are billed to you instead of your customer.

Not yet. Logentic prints a commercial invoice and a general certificate of origin with each cross-border shipment. If your goods qualify under CUSMA, your carrier or customs broker can tell you what certification they need.

Yes. Connect your own UPS or FedEx account and use it alongside Logentic's rates. Every option shows up when you compare rates.
